Knowing Christ (2)

Dearly Beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. In the world, it is usually considered a privilege or a mark of importance to be connected to people of influence in one’s community, in the workplace or in the world. But there is a connection that the believer has that surpasses all other connections, and that is the connection we have to God. John 17:3 (AMPC) says “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” Hallelujah. This relationship with God and Jesus Christ, is one that brings life everlasting.

Paul expressed this sentiment when he expressed in Philippians 3v8 (AMPC) that “Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),”. Lord Jesus, that we may know You more and more. Can you think of the person you know the most on earth? How did you come to know them? Likely by relating with them, being in close proximity with them, studying, observing and speaking with them. We can also know our God by relating to Him, speaking with Him, through His Spirit and reading about Him through the Word of God.  John 1v1 (AMPC) says “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.”

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You Lord Jesus for who You are. God, You are the most important, prominent, honourable Person we could ever know and we are grateful that we know You and belong to You. We pray that we may know You Lord Jesus and experience the mighty power that raised You from the dead, in Jesus name, amen.
