A Study of Psalm 3 (13)

Dearly Beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for a new month. I pray this would be a wonderful one for you and yours in Jesus name, amen. We have been looking at Psalm 3 for a while now. The Psalm starts by establishing the fact that there are loads of trouble all around, and an acknowledgment of God being our shield, our glory and the One who lifts our head. The Psalmist then goes on to say that he cries unto God, and God hears him; and he will lie down and rest, and not be afraid of ten thousands of people who rise up around him. But we see a bit of a change in verse 7 where the Psalmist says “Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.” Here again, the Psalmist cries out to God.

This shows me that sometimes a problem might rear its ugly head again, or another situation might arise, and we should always go to God – regardless of how many times these issues come. 1 Thessalonians 5v17 (KJV) puts it simply – “Pray without ceasing.” Ephesians 6v18 (AMPC) says “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” Importantly too, the Psalmist acknowledges all that God has done – You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly e.t.c. Even as we call out to God, we can and should continue to declare His glorious works, His goodness, His nature and be thankful for all He has done so far.

Prayer

Father, we thank You so much for this day. We ask that You arise on our behalf, and let every enemy be scattered. We thank You for You are our God, You have saved us and continue to do so. Only You are our God. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore, in Jesus name, amen.
