Enjoying one's work
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord. Yesterday in church, the sermon was titled “but for grace”.
Indeed, there are so many things we benefit because of the grace of God, some
of them we take for granted. One grace that we have access to is with regards
to our work. Ecclesiastes 5v19-20 (New Living Translation) says “And it is a
good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy
your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. God
keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over
the past.”
There is a gift from God to enjoy one’s work
which we can tap into. Many do not like when Monday comes and rejoice when
Friday comes. Though a weekend should be welcomed for rest, we can look unto
the God of grace to allow us to actually enjoy our work. Ultimately, we ought
to realize as well that as believers, we serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians
6v6-9 (New Living Translation) says “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were
working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that
the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves
or free. Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them;
remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and He has no favorites.”
Finally, as Ephesians 6v10 (The Living Bible)
says “Last of all I want to remind you that your strength must come from the
Lord’s mighty power within you.” As we go about our daily work, we need to
remember that our strength should come from the Lord’s mighty power within us.
Let us also be encouraged by Philippians 4v13 (Classic Amplified Version) which
says “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for
anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into
me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” Amen.
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for this day. Thank
You for the gift of enjoying our work and for Your mighty power at work in us.
We pray for this grace to enjoy the work of our hands, to do it with enthusiasm
and joy as unto You and not unto man. We pray that we would be empowered as
well to do all things through the inner strength You infuse in us. We bless and
honour You in Jesus name, amen.
