Words of life, words of grace
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord. The words that we speak and how we speak it are things
that the Lord is concerned about. This is no surprise as we are told that “Death
and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat
the fruit of it [for death or life]” (Proverbs 18v21; Classic Amplified
Version). The Living Bible translation says “Those who love to talk will suffer
the consequences. Men have died for saying the wrong thing!” Moreover, Proverbs
10v19 (King James Version) says “In the multitude of words there wanteth not
sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.”
What then would the Lord have us do? James 1v19
(New Living Translation) says “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters:
You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” Matthew
12v36 (Classic Amplified Version) cautioning us that “… on the day of judgment
men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking)
word they speak.”
But there are so many life-giving and enhancing
things we can do with our mouth and lips. We can praise and give thanks to God,
we can encourage others, and we can pray and pull down strongholds and all
powers of the enemy e.t.c. In conclusion, let us put into practice Ephesians 4v29
(Classic Amplified Version) which says “Let no foul or polluting language, nor
evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but
only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of
others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing
and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.”
Prayer
Father, we thank You for this day. Thank You for
a mouth to speak and words that come out of our mouth. O Lord, please help our
speech that it would be words of grace that are edifying to others. Let the law
of kindness be on our lips and let us ever make the sacrifice of praise, which
is the fruit of our lips giving glory to You. We bless and honour You now and
forevermore, in Jesus name, amen.
