Being of the Same Mind
17 August 2020: Being of the Same Mind
Dearly Beloved, I
trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. In Philippians 2v2 (AMPC),
Paul encouraged the Philippians saying “Fill up and complete
my joy by living in harmony and being of the same mind and one
in purpose, having the same love, being in full accord and of one harmonious
mind and intention.” The TPT
puts it this way “So I’m asking you, my friends, that you be joined
together in perfect unity—with one heart, one passion, and united in one love.
Walk together with
one harmonious purpose and you will fill my heart with unbounded joy.” Have you ever had to work with people of whom you were
not sure what their motives were? Or even if you knew what their motives or
purpose were, it was very different from yours. It is hard to do because while
you might be working to achieve a certain goal, they are working to achieve
something totally different, or they have a very different perspective or value
from yours.
It is a blessing when brethren
are in harmony, are like minded and working positively together. Psalm 133
(NLT) says “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in
harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over
Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his
robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the
mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his
blessing, even life everlasting. How good and pleasant it is for brethren to
dwell together in unity.” It can be hard to have everyone be of the same mind,
but as believers we have the Spirit of Christ, and we are encouraged to have
the mind of Christ. As we read the Word of God, and yield to His Spirit, we
find that we are changed from the inside out, into the image of the Lord. 2
Corinthians 3v18 (AMPC) says “And
all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word
of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured
into His very own image in ever increasing
splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes]
from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” Amen.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for this day. We thank You for Your goodness and Your grace. We yield to Your Spirit and we thank You that as we continue to behold Your glory in the Word of God, we will be changed and transformed into the image of Christ. That we will indeed bring glory to God as we walk with the same mind, purpose and in harmony in Jesus name, amen.
