An Inward Adorning

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price.” 1 Peter 3v3-4 (KJV)

“Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 3v4 (NIV)

“You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3v4 (NLT)

“But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3v4 (AMP)

Now if the emphasis of the wife should not be on the clothes, the jewelry and the hair do, what should it be? Well, the Bible says to “Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.” 1 Peter 3v4 (MSG). This inner beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, is unfading, incorruptible and it is so precious to God. If we were to characterize your inner man, what adjective will be used? Will it be beautiful or ugly; quiet or cantankerous; gentle or anxious; patient or impatient; healthy or sickly; lovely or repelling? Are you concentrating so much on your physical self that you forget what is truly precious in God’s sight? How can you get that inward adorning that is of great worth? Fellowship with the Holy Spirit, ask God for it, and heed and obey His Word and let it change you.

Supplementary Text
“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restrain, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].” Galatians 5v22-23 (AMP)

Father, we thank You for Your Word, and pray for the ornament of a meek and a quiet spirit which in Your sight is of great price, in Jesus name, amen.
