Memorize

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6v17 (KJV)

As believers we are in constant spiritual warfare. Our fight however is not against flesh and blood “[contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.“ (Ephesians 6v12, AMP). We have however been equipped by God to fight this battle. One weapon we have been given is a sword; the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The enemy might not come with a tail, two horns, and a spear, but he can come with condemnation, temptation, backbiting words, accusations, disturbing thoughts, fear, evil  imaginations, and high things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God e.t.c. Our Lord Jesus gave the perfect example of what to do when we are in battle – use the Word. Jesus told the enemy – it is written! Here comes one importance of memorizing the scriptures – it gives you a quick response to the attack of the enemy because you are reminded of the truth of God’s word in the face of such an attack. Memorized scripture also provide give you quick counsel, and wards away doubts and confusion, because you already know what the Word of God says.

Supplementary Text
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4v12 (KJV)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. Please give us the grace to memorize scriptures in Jesus name, amen.
