Love God? Love the World?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His amazing love and goodness towards us.

Primary Text

“And hereby do we know that we know Him…” 1 John 2v3 (KJV)

One reason we as Christians know that we know God is because we have a hatred of the world. We know that though we are in the world, we do not belong to it (John 15v19). Like women and men of faith of old, we admit that we are strangers, pilgrims and temporary residents on the earth (Hebrews 11v13).  1 John 2v15-17 (AMP) in particular tells us “Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things] – these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.” Loving God, and the world would lead to a sure conflict of interest. Beloved, where does your love lie today? Are you in love with God or with the world?

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).” Matthew 6v24 (AMP)

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You so much for today, and for Your love for us. Father, we declare You to be our Lord and our Friend. We repent of anyway we have given our affections to things of this world. We come back to You o Lord and pray that Jesus You and You alone will be the center of our lives in Jesus name, amen.
