An Adorning!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope
well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary
Text
“Let not yours be the [merely] external
adorning with [elaborate] interweaving and
knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewelry, or changes of clothes;” 1 Peter
3v3 (AMP)
“…. There are husbands who, indifferent
as they are to any words about God, will be captivated by your life of holy
beauty. What matters is not your outer appearance – the styling of your hair,
the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes – but your inner disposition.” 1
Peter 3v1-4 (MSG)
Plaiting of hair, wearing of gold and
putting of apparel - these are not bad in and of themselves. In fact women (and men) have to do
something with their hair, jewelry looks nice to complement outfits, and we
have to dress up – different occasions calling for different types of attire.
The interesting thing is that the Holy Spirit, who is our Helper, our Friend,
can help us even in the area of what we wear, put on, and help us to glorify
God in that way as well. 1 Peter 5v7 (KJV) saying “Casting all your care upon
Him; for He careth for you.” If it’s becoming a care for you, you can take it
to the Lord. We see Hagar helping Esther before she went to meet the king.
However, beyond our outward appearance, the Lord wants us to go deeper. Women,
being help meets to their husband, it does a world of good for them to look
nice, but the strength of our character, helps even more! Aptly put in Proverbs
31v30 (AMP) “Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is
vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she
shall be praised!”
Prayer
Father, we
thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You for You care for us, what we
eat, drink, put on. We pray Lord that You will grant the women the ornament of
a meek and a quiet spirit which in Your sight is of great price, in Jesus name,
amen.
