The church in Christ

Primary Text

“Paul and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ; Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 1v1 (KJV)

We thank God for the church being in the Lord Jesus Christ. Without Him, there would be no church, and because of Him and the sacrifice on the cross we have right standing, redemption and sanctification. 1 Corinthians 1v30 (AMP) telling us “But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, [revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as] our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption [providing our ransom from eternal penalty from sin].” Christians are marked and distinguished by the Spirit of God, who is also called the Spirit of Christ, and those who do not have the Spirit of Christ are none of His (Romans 8v9). Indeed Christ is the head of the church and we are His body (Colossians 1v18). Ephesians 4v15-16 (TLB) says “Instead, we will lovingly follow the truth at all times – speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly – and so become more and more in every way like Christ who is the Head of His body, the Church. Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, and each part in its own special way helps the other parts, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” Amen. He is the Author and the Completer of our faith (Hebrews 12v2), and He is the Vine and we are the branches; without Him, we can do nothing.

“I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.” John 15v5 (AMP)

Prayer

Father, we thank You for the church of God. Jesus we recognize Your Lordship and appreciate all that we are in You. Be glorified in Your church now and always in Jesus name, amen.
