The Witnesses’ Assurance
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“After
further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them,
because all the people were praising God for what had happened. For the man who
was miraculously healed was over forty years old. On their release, Peter and
John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and
the elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices
together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “You made the heavens
and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit
through the mouth of Your servant, our father David: “’Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers
band together against the Lord and against His anointed One. Indeed Herod and
Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this
city to conspire against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed. They did
what Your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. Now, Lord,
consider their threats and enable Your servants to speak Your word with great
boldness. Stretch out Your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through
the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” After they prayed, the place where they
were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
spoke the word of God boldly.” Acts 4v21-31 (NIV)
One
of the greatest assurances that God’s witness has is that He is aware of
everything that is going on. Indeed “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding
the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15v3, KJV). In addition to that, we know that
when we call on Him He hears us, for His Word tells us that “The eyes of the
LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry;” Psalm
34v14 (NIV). Moreover, 1 John 5v14-15 (AMP) says “And this is the confidence
(the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure]
that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement
with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively]
know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and
absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the
requests made of Him.” Amen. Apart from the assurance of His being aware of
everything going on and of answering us, as witnesses we are also assured of
His Presence.
Supplementary Text
“Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28v19-20 (KJV)
Prayer
Almighty
God, we thank You for hearing us, and being with us always, in Jesus name,
amen.
