The Father's Love
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the
Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 1v2 (KJV)
One of
the way in which a father demonstrates his love for his children is by
correcting them. A father who delights in his son would usually counsel and
correct him (Proverbs 3v12). While we know that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands
of the living God (Hebrews 10v31), it is awful when God stops rebuking,
reproving you or showing you the way you should go. For it is those that He
loves that He rebukes and chastens. We remember David, after he had sinned
against the Lord, God sent a prophet to him to let him know he had erred. God
loved him enough to let him know. Why would God rebuke or chasten you? So you
can do well, you can please Him, meet His standards, and stay on the right
path, that we may be partakers of His holiness. When He leaves you to your
ways, then be very afraid, for sons are the ones who are chastised. Hebrews 12v8-11 (NIV) says “Endure hardship as
discipline; God is treating you as His children. For what children are not
disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined – and everyone
undergoes discipline – then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters
at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we
respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits
and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God
disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in His holiness. No
discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it
produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained
by it.”
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for Your
goodness. We thank You for Your correction
and guidance. We pray for the grace and humility to accept them in Jesus name,
amen.
