Showing Compassion (2)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And there came a leper to Him, beseeching Him, and kneeling down to Him,
and saying unto Him, If Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved
with compassion, put forth His hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I
will; be thou clean. And as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy
departed from him, and he was cleansed.” Mark 1v40-42 (KJV)
The Bible lets us know that the Son of God was manifested to destroy the
works of the devil (1 John 3v8). Indeed, while God will have us show
compassion, He has provided a way that by the Holy Ghost and power we can move
to alleviate suffering and pain. Compassion meaning “a feeling of deep sympathy
and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a deep
desire to alleviate the
suffering”(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/compassion?s=t).
That
is, our compassion does not have to remain limited in our hearts, but like our
Lord Jesus, we can act and move. Acts 10v38 (AMP) says “How God anointed and
consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular,
curing all who were harassed and
oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him” while John 14v12
(NIV) says “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I
have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am
going to the Father.” By
working in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit we can go about doing
good. We can bring life into situations that the evil one who has come to
steal, kill and destroy (John 10v10) has spoiled.
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word and Your Spirit. We thank You
for how compassionate You are. Lord, please help us to be truly compassionate,
fill and empower us with Your Spirit and Your power so that we are enabled to
act on this compassion to the glory of Your name in Jesus name, amen.
