The Holy Ghost and Power

Hello everybody,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the victory we have in Him. We thank God for the power of prayer and intercession and being able to believe Him for friends, loved ones, family. We thank God for His amazing power. I was struck by these two words, the Holy Ghost, and Power, when I was reading the account of Mary about how she, a virgin was going to give birth to a child – our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Bible records that:

Primary Text: Luke 1v31-35
“And listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. He will be great (eminent) and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His forefather David, And He will reign over the house of Jacob throughout the ages; and of His reign there will be no end. And Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I have no [intimacy with any man as a] husband? Then the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a shining cloud]; and so the holy (pure, sinless) Thing (Offspring) which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1v31-35 (AMP)

And then I was reminded of another verse which has these same words in them – “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” (Acts 10v38, KJV). What exactly is happening here? For the impossible to take place, the Holy Ghost and power is needed. God carries out His purposes in our lives by the Holy Ghost and power. To be God’s witnesses, we need the Holy Ghost and power (Acts 1v8). One verse we often quote says: “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4v6, KJV). Hallelujah. Thank God for His Spirit.

Supplementary Text:
“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [the action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams] -- To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).” Ephesians 3v20-21 (AMP)

Prayer
Thank You Lord God Almighty for Your Holy Ghost and power. Thank You for Your power that is at work within us, bringing hope, life, and helping us to live a victorious life in You. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

However, the Holy Spirit is only given to those who are children of God, who are Christ’s. If you do not have the Holy Spirit of God, you are not of Christ (Romans 8v9). If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, and you want to have a relationship with Him. The Bible says:

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10v9-10

You can say this prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to You today, confessing that I am a sinner. I am sorry for all that I have done and ask that You forgive me for all of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Lord Jesus, I ask that You be Lord and Saviour over my life. I believe that You came to die for my sins, and that God raised You from the dead. Thank You Father for translating me out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Your dear Son. Thank You for sealing me with Your Holy Spirit of promise. Please keep me till the end in You, and may Your Name alone be glorified in my life, in Jesus name I pray, amen.

If you said this prayer today, know that you are now a child of God and that there is much jubilation in heaven because of you. Begin to attend a Bible-believing church, and keep the faith! Welcome into God’s family.
