The Word
Hello
everyone,
How
are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The
ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, My people doth not consider.” Isaiah 1v3
(KJV)
Child
of God, how well do you know the Lord? Do you know His plans for you, His will
for you, what He will have you do, how He will have you act, what makes Him
happy or pleases Him? The Bible says in Hosea 4v6 that My people perish for
lack of knowledge. It is important to know the Lord, to fellowship with Him,
through His Word – hearing and acting on it; through prayer, by enduring sound
teaching e.t.c. The Psalmist writes “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his
way? by taking heed thereto according
to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from
Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin
against Thee.” (Psalm 119v9-11). Through the Word of God, one can keep his way
cleansed and keep from sinning against God. Through learning and doing the
Word, we get guidance and direction (Psalm 119v105); we learn to pray aright
and not amiss (James 4v3, 1 John 5v14-15); and we get good success (Joshua 1v8,
Psalm 1). The Word of God is also called the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians
6v17), and we use it to fight – the devil, against temptation. Jesus
exemplified this when tempted by the devil, by responding to him, it is written
(Luke 4v4). But how would you know what is written if you do not study?
Supplementary Text
“Every
Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for
instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and
discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living,
in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man
of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every
good work.” 2 Timothy 3v16-17 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for when we draw near to You, You draw near to us. Father, please
