No “I got this” or “I haven’t gotten this”

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
Then he said to me, This [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts. For who are you, O great mountain [of human obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who with Joshua had led the return of the exiles from Babylon and was undertaking the rebuilding of the temple, before him] you shall become a plain [a mere molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone [of the new temple] with loud shoutings of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it! Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this house; his hands shall also finish it. Then you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me [His messenger] to you. Who [with reason] despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice when they see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. [These seven] are the eyes of the Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.” Zechariah 4v6-10 (AMP)

I was greatly encouraged this morning by this portion of scripture. Sometimes it is easy to get to the point of “I got this” and begin to depend on our own wisdom, strength, ability, charm, experiences e.t.c. And then when things are not going physically as we think they should perhaps due to circumstances, lack of funds, time e.t.c. that we can’t control, we think, ah, “I haven’t gotten this”. But the reality of the matter is that it isn’t us that has gotten anything - for it is not by power, nor by might, but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4v6). Zerubbabel for example had a task at hand – to rebuild the temple. How was this thing going to be? Not by his power, or his might but by the Spirit of the Lord of hosts. Mary a virgin was told she was going to have a child. How will this thing be? “And Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I have no [intimacy with any man as a] husband? Then the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a shining cloud]; and so the holy (pure, sinless) Thing (Offspring) which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God. And listen! Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is now the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment” Luke 1v34-37 (AMP). Hallelujah. How will the promises God has made to you come to pass? How will that glorious destiny be fulfilled? By the Spirit and the power of God.

Supplementary Text
“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” Proverbs 3v5-6 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your Spirit who You give to us. Thank You because Your Spirit brings to pass Your plans and Your purposes. We apologize for ever thinking or acting based on our own power and might and not depending on You. We yield and submit to You today to come and have Your way and do that which You want to do in and through us. Be glorified now and ever, in Jesus name, amen.
