Pursue Intimacy with Him
Hello
everyone,
How
are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Seek,
inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and
inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence
[continually] evermore.” Psalm 105v4 (AMP)
In
a time where there are so many noises and things competing with our time and
for our attention, we sometimes neglect the most important things. One of the
most important being to retain always an awareness of who we are – God’s. And
because we are His we know that we are connected to Him and cannot but abide in
Him. As believer’s we also have the Holy Spirit with us and in us (John
14v16-17; 1 Corinthians 3v16), and He is there to guide us, lead us, comfort
us, counsel us, be our friend, teach us, advocate for us e.t.c. But we
sometimes neglect to fellowship with Him. Yes, He is with us, but we may not
take time to acknowledge Him and involve Him in all that we are doing. One book
title says “Too Busy Not to Pray: Slowing Down to be with God.” Moses
understood the importance of having God’s presence with him, and the Bible
says: “Then Moses said to him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not
send us up from here. How will anyone know that You are pleased with me and
with Your people unless You go with us? What else will distinguish me and Your
people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” (Exodus
33v15&16, NIV). David as well said, “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that
will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the
house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze
upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the
Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple” Psalm 27v4 (AMP).
What then do we do? Seek intimacy with the Lord. Expand your devoted time to
not just the minutes you spend time with the Lord in the morning, but
maintaining a constant awareness of His moment by moment presence with you and
involving Him in all that you do. Talk to Him J.
Supplementary Texts
“[That
you may really come] to know [practically, [through experience for yourselves]
the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience];
that you may be filled [through all your being] [unto all the fullness of God
[may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and [become a body wholly
filled and flooded with God Himself]!” Ephesians 3v19 (AMP)
“In
that day [it will be said of the redeemed nation of Israel], A vineyard beloved
and lovely; sing a responsive song to it and about it! I, the
Lord, am its Keeper; I water it every moment; lest anyone harm it, I guard and
keep it night and day.” Isaiah 27v2-3 (KJV)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You. Lord God Almighty, we want to grow in our knowledge of You and
fellowship with You. We want to be intimate with You, we want to know You more,
beyond just head knowledge. We want to fellowship with You all the day long and
retain a constant awareness of Your presence in us and with us moment by
moment. You are the Vine Lord and we are the branches. We receive our
nourishment, guidance, love, comfort and direction from You. It is in You that
we live and move and have our being and we know that apart from You we can do
nothing. Let Your manifest presence be with us all the day long and those good
works which You before ordained we walk in, let us walk in them in Jesus name,
amen.
