Running with Giants
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well
and bubbling in the Lord.

“Now faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a
good report.” Hebrews 11v1-2 (KJV)
I once saw a book titled Running with
Giants, and it was premised on if you had a bit of time – running around an
athletic race track – with great men and women of faith who have passed on
before us, what would they tell you. Indeed, if we were to run with Abraham,
Isaac, Jacob, Ruth, Rahab, Mary, Samuel, Joseph, Daniel, Esther, Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego, I believe one message that would consistently come out is
to have faith in God. They will likely tell you to trust in God even when all
seems hopeless and dismal; even when you get to the stage of “If I perish, I perish”
like Esther did, or have a death sentence looming over your head like Daniel who
was thrown in the den of lions or are about to be placed in a fiery furnace
like the three Hebrew children. Have faith in God, rely on God. We see Hebrews
11 highlighting how through faith, God’s people had gone ahead of us to achieve
great exploits. “And what shall I more say? For the time would fail me to tell
of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jepthae; of David also, and
Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought
righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the
violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made
strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting
deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:” Hebrews 11v32-36
(KJV). If you could run with the Lord Jesus Christ and you had about 5 mins,
what would He tell you?
Supplementary
Text
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed
about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and
the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race
that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that
endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and
faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12v1-2 (KJV)
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for today. Thank
You for You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. We love You and
appreciate You and thank You for the cloud of witnesses that surround us that
we can pull from their experiences. We thank You Lord Jesus for being a great
example for us. Be exalted forevermore. May we always be encouraged in You and
by You in Jesus name, amen.
