Watch that Thought (3)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His amazing
grace which is available for us. We thank God for He is a just God (Isaiah
45v21), and we are encouraged to fix our thoughts on things that are just, as
we see in Philippians 4v8: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, … think on these
things.” Philippians 4v8 (KJV).
Just can mean guided
by truth, reason, justice, and fairness; done or made according to principle,
equitable, proper; based on right… (www.dictionary.com). Certain standards
have been raised internationally that make us say this is just, or this is not.
We have courts of law to give judgments on things. But there are many gray
areas – in our daily lives, walks, work, and in relation with others. The Bible
tells us that – the just shall live by His faith (Habakkuk 2v4). A just man is
guided by his faith in God, by God’s truth, and God’s belief standards; and we
know that whatever doesn’t proceed from faith is sin (Romans 15v23).
The Bible tells us certain
things about a just man: when he is taught, he increases in learning (Proverbs
9v9); his memory is blessed, and blessings are upon his head (Proverbs
10v6&7); that his mouth brings forth wisdom (Proverbs 10v31); and there
shall no evil happen to him (Proverbs 12v21). Noah for example was described as
a just man and perfect in his generations (Genesis 6v9). And this was a time
when “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis
6v5). Not everyone may appreciate a just man. For instance, Job (12v4) writes
“I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and He answereth
him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.” But regardless of what is going
on around us, we shall continue to live by our faith, we shall be just, and we
shall not turn back from following God in Jesus name, amen. We will stand
encouraged by Proverbs 4v18 (AMP) which says “But the path of the [uncompromisingly]
just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more
(brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the
perfect day [to be prepared].”
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for this day, and I thank You for Your Spirit on the inside of me.
Father, the grace to reflect Your justice, to fix my thoughts on things that
are just, to call just what You call just, and to continue to live by my faith,
and not turn back from following You, I ask of You this day in Jesus name,
amen.
