Watch that Thought (5)
Hello everyone,
How are you
doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible says: “Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, …” Philippians 6v8 (KJV). Once again,
we look at purity of thought. Being pure could also be taken to mean - “free
from moral taint or defilement; free from tainting or polluting material;
clean; wholesome.” (www.dictionary.com). What are you permitting yourself to
think about? Are they morally pure? We need to watch our thoughts, as they
translate to actions.
Jesus said,
“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit
adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after
her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” Matthew 5v27&28
(KJV). Impurity is a practice and doing of the flesh (Galatians 5v19), but we
are to fix our thoughts on things that are pure. It is easy to become insensitive
to impurity, as it seems to be all around us. But by the power of the Spirit,
we can put to death the deeds of the flesh. We also have a part to play
ourselves. The Bible says – “Don’t be misled – you cannot mock the justice of
God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy
their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature.
But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the
Spirit.” (Galatians 6v7-8, NLT).
What are
you watching? What are you feeding your eyes and ears with? What are you
allowing yourself to meditate on? What are you sowing to? If you sow
continually to impure things, you reap impurity. But if you sow to pure things,
feeding yourself with the Word, sowing to the Spirit, then that is what you
will reap. You become more attuned to what is pure in the eyes of God. You be
better able to discern between right and wrong, to be able to say, no, this
isn’t morally right in God’s eyes, regardless of how the world tries to present
it. Turn off impurity. Be conscious of what you allow and permit yourself to
feed on.

Text
“And may
the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from
profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your
spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).” 1 Thessalonians 5v23

Prayer
Father, we thank
You for this day. Father, we ask for mercy and forgiveness in anyway we have
given the devil a foothold to allow impure thoughts to flood our minds, in
Jesus name, amen. Today, we take every thought and purpose captive, and lead it
into the obedience of Christ. We come against every argument and theory and
reasoning and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the
knowledge of God. We overthrow and destroy every stronghold in our minds. In
Jesus name, amen. Sanctify us wholly o God, make us pure and wholly consecrated
to yourself. May our spirit, soul, and body, be preserved sound and complete
and found blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, in Jesus name we
pray, amen.
