Watch that Thought (4)
Hello
everyone,
How are you
doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible says: “Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, …” Philippians 6v8 (KJV). We can look
at pure to mean “Free from anything of a different, inferior, or contaminating
kind; free from moral thought or defilement; free from tainting or polluting
material; clean; wholesome.” (www.dictionary.com). How then can we have pure thoughts
as opposed to impure thoughts?
As
believers we need to be careful that our thoughts are pure towards God. James
4v8 (AMP) says “Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize
that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been
disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts
[of your spiritual adultery].” Essentially our thoughts can be impure when we
are wavering between God, and other things. When we are not fully committed to
God. “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and
unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.” (Titus
1v15, KJV).
When our
thoughts are pure, it is easy to believe God, to be taught of Him, to
understand what He is saying to us, but when our thoughts become impure, then
we begin questioning, God might not seem enough for us anymore, and we start
looking for pleasures in other things. Let us draw near to God, purging ourselves
of every impurity, any inferior or contaminated or perverse type of thinking.
Let us “…be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.” (Romans 12v2). Amen. 1 John 3v2-3 (KJV) also reminds us that “Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall
appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that
hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.”
Prayer
Father, we thank
You for this day. You are indeed faithful and true. Father, we come to you
today, asking for pure hearts. We ask that You sit as a refiner’s fire and
fuller’s soap, purging us of every impurity, cleansing us o God, in Jesus name,
amen.
