Faith as a grain of mustard seed

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in Jesus name, amen. Amazing how fast the year is running by. We thank God for keeping us thus far. The Bible tells us in the book of Matthew of a situation where the disciples were confronted with something that seemed bigger than their ability – a father had brought his lunatick son to them to cure, but they couldn’t.

“And I brought him to Thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove: and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17v 16-21

After the disciples could not help the man’s son, he then brought his son to Jesus, who had previously been away from the multitude, haven been on a high mountain apart, with Peter, James and John. Now while Jesus pointed out to the disciples that this particular kind did not go out but by prayer and fasting, He taught them another important lesson, which was that unbelief could hinder things from getting done. He said if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain … The Amplified Bible says that if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed… Almost like your faith is a living faith, though enclosed in a small grain as the mustard seed, yet it is alive.

And so, how do we increase our faith? Romans 10v17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. People come to salvation by hearing the Word of God, the good news of our God. There is something about getting into the Word that builds up our faith in God. There is something about reading the Word, and getting acquainted with what God says about every single situation that builds up our faith. Up your faith level. Up your Word level. And be blessed as you do so in Jesus name, amen.

Have a very blessed day.

Verse for thought:
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10v17 (King James Version)

“So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that comes from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).” Romans 10v17 (Amplified Bible)
