Conforming to the image of …?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Romans 8v29 shows us that God wants those of us that have been called to be conformed to the image of His Son: “For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (New Living Translation). A discussion today made me consider this issue of conformity. One way or the other, we are as human beings are continually evolving and changing in the way we think, our mannerisms, the way we relate with God and each other in different settings. The question therefore remains, to whose or what image are we being conformed? Who are we becoming more like as we navigate the world and life? It’s easy to let our experiences make us become more cynical, less trusting, less kind or wanting to believe the best of every person, as love does. However, God wants us to be conformed to the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So what then should we do? Romans 12v1-2 (The Message) says “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”

Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for this day. Thank You so much for Jesus who is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. Lord help us. We yield our everything to You that we may be conformed to the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, and not to the image of this world. O God, search us and see if there is anything in us that doesn’t please You. We ask that You expose and expunge it in Jesus name, amen. Please be glorified in and through us in Jesus name, amen.
