A Deep Search (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Twice in the past 24 hours, I was exhorted along the lines of allowing our hearts to be searched. Because the heart can be deceitful, we can assume then that one can be going in the wrong direction and think they are fine. Thankfully, the Lord can see our hearts. Jeremiah 17v9-10 (The Living Bible) says “The heart is the most deceitful thing there is and desperately wicked. No one can really know how bad it is! Only the Lord knows! He searches all hearts and examines deepest motives so He can give to each person his right reward, according to his deeds—how he has lived.”

We see the Psalmist in Psalm 139v23-24 (King James Version ) pray to the Lord saying: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” The Message translation puts it this way “Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for Yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong— then guide me on the road to eternal life.”

It is good to continually allow for this kind of examination, to ensure that we are still in the faith (2 Corinthians 13v5).

Prayer
Lord, we thank You for You are light. We ask that You will search us thoroughly, investigate our lives and our hearts, see if there is any wicked way, anything that offends You, anything we have done wrong; Father see if we are deviating from Your path, and lead us in the way to eternal life. Restore us to our first love o God. Help us to honour You in all that we do, and let Your name be glorified forevermore in Jesus name, amen.
