Against hope believe in hope

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Romans 4v15-22 (New Living Translation) tells us that “So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.  And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.” Here, the Bible tells us of Abraham and the process he experienced before the fulfillment of the promise of God to him.

Perhaps you are in a situation where in the physical you have no reason to hope, hold on. Do not let your physical be your reality. Our God is the One who calls those things that be not as though they were, and if He has made you a promise, He will meet it. Abraham ensured that he was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Child of God, when the enemy comes with arrows of fear, sorrow and discouragement, hold up the shield of faith; remembering that faith is anchored on the Word of God.

We see also with Abraham that he was fully persuaded that God was able to do that which He had promised He will do. Mary in Luke 1v37-38 (Classic Amplified Bible) said “For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. Then Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said. And the angel left her.” Beloved, let that be our attitude too – that God, I am fully persuaded that what You have said, You are able to do. Be it unto me according to Your word in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer
Father, we thank You so much for Your Word. Thank You Lord that even when we do not have reason to hope, we remain hopeful, because You are well able to do that which You promised. We give You all glory and honour for this in Jesus name, amen.

  1. It is easy for me to believe God will do what He said he would do. What is tricky is, how I know who 'said': is it God, or is it me? In other words, is this God promising, or is this my heart hoping?
    Thank you.

    1. Hey Yad Day. Thanks for your comment. One sure way to know who is saying what is to check it against scripture. From scripture, it is very sure that this is God saying it. But we do know that God speaks to us in other ways too e.g. through a word of prophesy, through other people e.t.c. But, whatever is of God will not contradict His written Word. Moreover, as we continue to get closer to Him, you get a deeper sensitivity as to when it is God speaking or when it is you hoping... and you can definitely ask God to help you hear Him more clearly and distinctly.
