Deal with those anxious thoughts

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Psalm 139v23-24 (New Living Translation) says “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Yesterday, a group of us had a chat about anxious thoughts and how anxiety points to the fact that we do not trust God. Think about it, when you are crying and wailing over a situation, what are you saying about God’s ability to help out?

I thank God however that we have a God who has clearly told us not to worry or to be anxious, but instead to pray and trust in Him. Philippians 4v6-7 (Classic Amplified Version) says “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Some may find it easier to trust God in a particular type of situation but not in others. We however need to get to the point of total dependence and trust in God, regardless of the circumstances. As 1 Peter 5v7 tells us, we need to give the Lord all of our cares, not just part of it: “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (Classic Amplified Version). Psalm 55v22 lets us know that when we cast our cares to God, He will sustain us: “Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall” (New Living Translation).

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word this day. We ask that You forgive us for the sin of worrying. We pray that we will be quick to bring all our cares and worries to You in Jesus name, amen.

Do you have any care or worry or concern? Why don’t you take it to the Lord in prayer now?
