Kindness

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Ephesians 4v32 (King James Version) says “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” One of the evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit i.e. the fruit of the Spirit is kindness. The dictionary tells us that kind means to be “of a good or benevolent nature or disposition, as a person”; “having, showing, or proceeding from benevolence”; “indulgent, considerate, or helpful; humane”. Synonyms for kind include mild, benign, gentle, tender, compassionate. Thus we can have a kind person, or speak kind words or do kind deeds.

Similarly, 1 Corinthians 13 also tells us that one of the attributes of love is that it is kind. Kind could also imply “a deep-seated characteristic shown either habitually or on occasion by considerate behavior.” Beloved, do you in consideration of others show kindness? We have so many opportunities to show kindness to others daily, and the Lord would have us do so. We are told in 1 Corinthians 13v3 (New Living Translation) that “If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” Here, the Word of God tells us that even if we demonstrate certain outward attributes, but do not have love, we have not gained anything. Beloved, love is kind.

Are you kind? Are you considerate of those around you in your words and in your actions? The Word of the Lord tells us to love our neighbours as ourselves. Do you show the same kindness you show to yourself to those around you? What testimony do others have about you? One beautiful thing is that the Spirit of the Lord is on the inside of us and an evidence of His presence is kindness. As with any fruit, it can grow. If you find that you are lacking in this area, why not ask the Lord to help you and begin by faith to be kind to all – in words, thoughts and deeds.

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word and how You would have us to be kind to all. O Lord, grant us the grace to do that, the grace that with each word we speak, thought we think, and action we perform, we will choose to be kind, to be benevolent, and therefore give you glory. Thank You so much o God, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
