Abounding in Fruits of Righteousness (2)
Dearly beloved, I trust this finds you well and
bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for this is the day that He has made and we
will rejoice in it. One prayer that Paul prayed for the church in Philippi, was
“Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto
the glory and praise of God” Philippians 1v11 (KJV). Righteousness is a
mark of the kingdom of God, and we are citizens of that Kingdom. Romans 14v17
(AMPC) says “[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the]
food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which
makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit.” As children of God, we have been made righteous through Christ Jesus
and his sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5v21).
Fruits of righteousness can reveal themselves in
different ways. It could be expressing solid and unwavering faith in God.
Romans 4v3 (NIV) says “What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it
was credited to him as righteousness.” These fruits could also be doing good,
kind things that show we are children of God, and bring much praise and glory
to the Lord. May we indeed abound in these fruits in Jesus name, amen.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We pray from
Colossians 1v9-14 that You will help us understand what You want us to do, and
make us wise about spiritual things. We pray that the way we live will always
please You o Lord and honour You, so that we will always be doing good, kind
things for others, while all the time learning to know God better and better.
We pray too that we will be filled with Your mighty, glorious strength so that
we can keep going no matter what happens – always full of the joy of the Lord,
and always thankful to the Father who has made us fit to share all the
wonderful things that belong to those who live in the Kingdom of light. For You
have rescued us out of the darkness and gloom of Satan’s kingdom and brought us
into the Kingdom of Your dear Son, who bought our freedom with His blood and forgave
us all our sins. We pray all this in Jesus name, with thanksgiving, amen.
