The face of love – not envy!

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. God is very faithful and He loves us very very much. Now one thing that love is not, is envious, even as the Bible says:

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not;…” 1 Corinthians 13v4

Envy, can be very destructive, especially to the one who envies. It could almost consume you, and make you do things that would have bad repercussions on you and those around you. Looking at examples of those who were in a sense envious, we see that in the life of Saul who was jealous of David; the brothers of Joseph, who were jealous of him; the other presidents and princes who worked with Daniel.

-Saul, who had promoted David before, began to be angry, when the women sang that Saul had killed his thousands, and David his tens of thousands (1 Samuel 18). It kind of hurt his pride.
- Joseph’s brothers hated Joseph and could not speak peaceably to him, because his father loved Joseph above all his brothers. And when Joseph had dreams which he told his brothers about, they hated him even more (Genesis 37). They would have loved some more affection, and to top it up, it seemed that his future might be more successful than theirs.
- The other princes and presidents began to seek something that they could put against Daniel because he was preferred above them, because an excellent spirit was in him (Daniel 5). Daniel just seemed like mr perfect who did no wrong, and made no mistakes.

Have you started feeling funny towards somebody? Looking for faults in them? Being displeased with them? Not able to speak peaceably towards them? Check it – it may be the beginnings of the envy syndrome. How much different would things have been if Saul had ignored what the women had said, or Joseph’s brother had drawn Joseph in and spoken to their Dad that he was going about things the wrong way, or even tried to understand why their father was acting the way he did towards Joseph. How much different would things have been for the princes and presidents if they had spoken to Daniel concerning the root of his success – God.

For all those that were blessed, God was the root cause, He was behind their success. The Amplified Bible would say Blessed [happy, to be envied]. The Bible says draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you. Cultivate your relationship with the Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit, and let He- the Potter of your life, work in you. When God does things, He does it beautifully. When He is working in your life, you can be sure that you will be blessed, happy, and enviable. Then, you can tell people that the secret of what they see, is not I, but the God in me. Quit envying others. Instead determine the root of the problem, be sincere to God about what you are feeling and why, and ask Him to bless you and use you for His glory and keep you humble, so that you won’t be resisted, as He does the proud (James 4v6-8,10)

Have a very blessed day.

Verses for thought:
“From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4v1-3
