This one thing …

Hello everybody,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His amazing love for us and for watching over us. I pray that we may really know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that we might be filled with all the fullness of God in Jesus name, amen.

Primary Text
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those which are before,” Philippians 3v13

What is this one thing that Paul does? He forgets those things that are behind, and reaches forth unto those things which are before. If we are in Christ, we become new creatures, old things are passed away, and behold, all things are become new. Jesus said “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9v62). Letting go of the past includes letting go of the life that is outside of Jesus, the affairs of this world, the sin that so easily besets you. Perhaps it also means letting go of past disappointments, hurts, malice, anger, pride, the love of money, maybe even achievements and victories, things that could hold you down, and keep you from the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. On the other hand, like Paul says, let us reach forth to those things which are before, for instance spending eternity with the Lord, the joy that is set before us, the crown(s) we shall receive, pleasing God …

Supplementary Verses
“WHEREFORE SEEING we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12v1-3

Prayer
Father, I thank You for calling me Yours. I pray in the name of Jesus, that You will help me and grant me the grace to forget those things which are behind and reach forth to those things which are before.
