The Indwelling Spirit

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. I have been reading a lot about the Holy Spirit this month and wanted to share a bit more about Him. One of the key insights, which we already know is that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. This means that God lives on the inside of us. Do you really believe that? John 4v19-24 (King James Version) records a conversation between Jesus and a woman of Samaria, and they spoke about the temple: “The woman saith unto Him, Sir, I perceive that Thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

We then see in 1 Corinthians 6v19 (Classic Amplified Version) that “Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,”. Basically, the temple is no longer in a mountain somewhere or in Jerusalem. Yes, we have physical structures where we go to with people to fellowship together, but really, our own bodies are the temple of God. God lives in us by His Holy Spirit. His throne is in our hearts.

Some might say, I do not feel Him or sense Him. But God’s Spirit indwelling us is not about how we think or feel, or trying to connect with Him through our emotions. By faith, we can stand on the Word of God which says that the Holy Spirit lives in us. By faith, we choose to believe this is true and let God take over from there.

Prayer
Our Father and our God, we thank You so much for this day? We thank You for Your love for us and how much You desire a relationship with us. Thank You for sending Your Spirit to dwell on the inside of us. We believe that He is in us and with us. We believe that You have made Your throne in our hearts and reign there. What a wonderful Gift this is. How awesome You are. Father we pray that You will reveal to us the gravity of what it means that our bodies are Your temple so that we may live and walk in ways that reflect this truth. Thank You precious Father in Jesus name we pray, amen.
