Power for goodness

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. One of the things God will have His children do are good deeds. He is a good God and He does good things and created us anew in Christ Jesus to do the same. Ephesians 2v10 (New International Version) says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” When we do good, God gets the glory. We see this in Matthew 5v16 (New Century Version) which says “In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.” The Classic Amplified Version says “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

“So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of His call. May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do” 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (New Living Translation). The prayer here is Lord, help us to live lives that are worthy of Your call on our lives. It is a prayer that seeks to have God glorified in one’s life. But beyond that, it is a prayer for the power and enablement to be able to be this kind of person and to bring to fruition those good deeds that one begins to desire to do as a child of God. Philippians 1v9-11 (The Living Bible) also says “My prayer for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight, for I want you always to see clearly the difference between right and wrong, and to be inwardly clean, no one being able to criticize you from now until our Lord returns. May you always be doing those good, kind things that show you are a child of God, for this will bring much praise and glory to the Lord.”

Prayer
Father, we thank You for who You are to us. Most High God we honor You and we pray from 2 Thessalonians 1v11 (NIV) that You may make us worthy of Your calling, and that by Your power You may bring to fruition our every desire for goodness and our every deed prompted by faith, in Jesus name, amen. May we always be doing those good, kind things that show that we are children of God, thus bringing much praise and glory to the Lord in Jesus name, amen.
