A Study of Psalm 3 (8)
Dearly Beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling in the Lord. We have been looking at Psalm 3 over the past couple of days, and we continue doing so today. We focus on verse 4 which says “With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!” Why exactly do we cry to the Lord? There are many reasons for this, apart from the fact that He hears us and He answers us. We cry to the Lord because He is our Helper. Hebrews 13v5-6 (KJV) says “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
We cry unto God because He is
the only One who can help us. Psalm 60v11-12 (AMPC) say “O give us help against the
adversary, for vain (ineffectual and to no purpose) is the help or salvation of
man. Through God we shall do valiantly, for He it is Who shall tread down our
adversaries.” Finally, we cry out to God because He really does care about us and
wants us to come to Him with any issues we might have. Philippians 4v6-7 (TLB)
says “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray
about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his
answers. If you do this, you
will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind
can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at
rest as you trust in Christ Jesus” while 1 Peter 5v7 (KJV) says “Casting all your care upon him; for he
careth for you.” Amen.
Prayers
Father, we thank You so much
for all that You are to us. Thank You because we can come to You with every
care that we have, because You care for us. Thank You for subduing our adversaries
before us and making crooked paths straight. We are grateful. Blessed be Your
name in Jesus name, amen.
