The Ungodly (3)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“That punishment is especially for those who live by doing the evil things their sinful selves want and who hate authority. These false teachers are bold and do anything they want. They are not afraid to speak against the angels. But even the angels, who are much stronger and more powerful than false teachers, do not accuse them with insults before the Lord. But these people speak against things they do not understand. They are like animals that act without thinking, animals born to be caught and killed. And, like animals, these false teachers will be destroyed.” 2 Peter 2v10-11 (NCV)

In Jude we see a similar message about false teachers as that spoken in 2 Peter 2. Jude 1v8-10 (NLT) says “In the same way, these people – who claim authority from their dreams – live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings. But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.) But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.” Two things Scripture raises about these people are that they speak against things that they do not understand and they act without thinking. What a combination! 1 Timothy 6v3-5 (NLT) says “Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life. Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions. These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.”

 Supplementary Text
“Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep. They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, they seek their own gain. “Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, and even far better.” Isaiah 56v10-12 (NIV)

Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for Your Word. Father, in these days, keep me from being deceived and straying from the faith and the Truth, in Jesus name, amen. Grant me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to live in this life, and help me to always act with self-control in Jesus name, amen.
