To those who would be ungodly…

Hello everyone,

How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“And He condemned to ruin and extinction the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to ashes [and thus] set them forth as an example to those who would be ungodly;” 2 Peter 2v6 (AMP)

Wow. Our God is merciful and He is just, and He loves the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son that whosever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3v16). We know that the things that were written aforetime, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scripture might have hope (Romans 15v4). In 2 Peter 2v6 though, the Bible states that God destroyed the evil cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and has put them as an example of those who will leave ungodly. Galatians 5v19-21 (NIV) says “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Scripture tells us that in the last days there will be scoffers who would say “… “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” (2 Peter 3v4, NLT). But we know that “For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (Hebrews 10v37, KJV). As children of God though, we know that God our Saviour “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.” (1 Timothy 2v4-6, NIV). And so we continue to pray for friends, loved ones, family and colleagues, knowing that “The end of the world is coming soon…” (1 Peter 4v7, NLT). But knowing too that “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3v9, KJV). And Jesus said “… The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9v37-38, AMP).

Supplementary Text
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelations 21v8 (KJV)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word and Your love for us all. Father we pray, please send laborers into Your harvest. Please touch our friends, loved ones, family, and colleagues that do not know You. Draw them to Yourself. Let them know the truth that they might be set free. Thank You Father for we pray believing and with thanksgiving, in Jesus name, amen.
