A new leaven

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, His grace and His promises. Hallelujah!

Primary Text
“Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of vice and malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened [bread] of purity (nobility, honor) and sincerity and [unadulterated] truth.” 1 Corinthians 5v8 (AMP)

“So let us celebrate the feast, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth.” 1 Corinthians 5v8 (NLT)

Hallelujah. Christ has been sacrificed for us, He being our Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5v7). And here Paul continues his letter to the Corinthians, all Scripture as we know being “given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3v16), and he says, let us keep this feast but not with the old leaven of malice and wickedness and evil, but unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. When we gave our lives to Christ, we put off the old sinful nature and its evil practices, and we have now been clothed anew with a new nature (Colossians 3v9-10). The verses saying “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3 also talks of other things we ought to mortify and put to death e.g. malice, slander, rage, fornication e.t.c. This new nature however is continually being renewed as we increase in the knowledge of Christ and get to know Him. And as believers, the Spirit of Christ dwelling with us and in us (John 14v17), enables us to mortify the deeds of the body (Romans 8v13).

Supplementary Text
“So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh. For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.” Romans 8v12-13 (AMP).

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word today. I ask that by the power of the Holy Spirit every thing that is carnal and of the flesh in me, every leaven of the old nature be destroyed in Jesus name, amen. I put on the new nature and I put on Christ today. I pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that I may know You better, that I may grow in grace and in the knowledge of God, being a doer and not only a hearer of Your Word, in Jesus name I pray with thanksgiving, amen.
