Flee fornication
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for who He is to us. The Bible says:
Primary Text
“It
is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, …” 1 Corinthians 5v1
(KJV)
Beloved,
is fornication being named among you? This should not be so. Ephesians 5v3
(KJV) says “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not
be once named among you, as becometh saints;” Colossians 3v5-6 (AMP) tells us
what to do about such things “So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil
desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly
in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites,
unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the
deifying of self and other created things instead of God). It is on account of
these [very sins] that the [holy] anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of
disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will),” We need
to mortify them. The Dakes concordance elaborates on the following words - fornication:
“all manner of unlawful sexual relationship”; uncleanness: “homosexuality and
all other forms of sex perversion”; inordinate affection: “unnatural,
unrestrained, excessive, and out of bounds passion and lust”; evil
concupiscence: “evil, wicked, and depraved desire, lust, passion or appetite”; covetousness:
“which is idolatry because the coveted thing becomes an idol. Describes the
erotomaniac so common among women, who extravagantly idolizes, being intent
upon a mental possession of the beloved one. She is usually extremely vain and,
as a rule in love with a person of high social and intellectual standing – a
prince, celebrated statesman, victorious general, famous actor, popular singer,
brilliant preacher, or some other great man. Such diseased form of love is
coupled with idolatrous admiration and worship, and, among other things, is
responsible for present day “swooning” and mobbing of singers, actors and other
celebrated persons for autographs, pictures or part of their clothing.” All
these things, we as believers, should not permit in us. Through the power of
the Holy Spirit, we mortify and put these things to death in Jesus name, amen.
Supplementary Text
“So
you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to
God through Christ Jesus. Do not let sin control the way you live; and do not
give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an
instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God,
for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an
instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your
master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you
live under the freedom of God’s grace.” Romans 6v11-14 (NLT)
Prayer
Heavenly
Father, we thank You for Your Word this day and the freedom we have in Christ.
We thank You because sin is no longer our master, for we are no longer under
the law, but we are under grace. Thank You Father. Today, we yield every member
of our body as instruments of righteousness, and we put to death everything
that is earthly and every evil desire that is lurking in us in Jesus name,
amen. We yield to You Holy Spirit of God and say take full control of our
spirits, souls and bodies, for we know that if we let our sinful nature control
our minds, it will lead to death, but if You Holy Spirit control our minds, it
will lead to life and peace. Thank You for the freedom and victory we have in
You o Lord. In Jesus name we pray, believing we have received the victory with
thanksgiving, amen.
