Jesus!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day?
I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. God is our refuge and strength, our very
present help in trouble. We thank God for the ability to call upon Him in “real
time,” and for His presence with us all the time. We thank God also for the
cloud of witnesses that we can look to that attest to His goodness and His
faithfulness. Furthermore, the Bible tells us:
Primary Text
“Looking away [from all that
will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving
the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to
maturity and perfection]….” Hebrews 12v2 (AMP)
Fixing our eyes on Jesus – our
hope, our strength, our Shepherd, our Lord, our King. The Bible encourages us
to look away from things that will distract us, and to look to Jesus instead.
There are many things that can distract us – like the pride of life, the cares
of this world, the lust of the flesh, and other things that are presented to us
to entice us. But we can look to Jesus, Who is the Author and the Finisher of
our faith. We can look to Him and remember the beginning of our faith, how it
is that we became Christians. We can look to Him who said for us to come to Him
if we are burdened and heavy laden and He will give us rest (Matthew 11v28-30).
We can look to Jesus and remember the love that God had for us, and still does,
and He sending Jesus to die on the Cross for us, and Jesus laying His life down
for us. We can look to Jesus and remember that not only is He the author of our
faith, He is also the One that perfects our faith. Apart from Him we are
nothing, and without Him we can do nothing (John 15v5). Now, none can pluck us
out of His hands, and He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God
through Him (Hebrews 7v25).
Supplementary Text
“Therefore He is able also to
save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and
eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make
petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them. [Here is] the
High Priest [perfectly adapted] to our needs, as was fitting – holy, blameless,
unstained by sin, separated from sinners, and exalted higher than the heavens.”
Hebrews 7v25-26 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, we bless You for Your
Word, and say that Now unto Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to
present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To
the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both
now and ever, Amen. (From Jude 1v24-25).
