Pray for Peace
Hello everybody,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for a new day, a
day we have never seen or experienced before. And even though we do not know
what a day will bring. We have a God who is faithful, true, awesome and has our
back J. I became aware of a prayer that someone prayed the other
day that – Lord, I want to enjoy You more today, than the day before, and I pray
that will be ours as well… for it is easy to go through our daily lives without
truly enjoying the Lord, our fellowship with Him, our life in Him. Lord, may we
enjoy You more today then ever before in Jesus name, amen. Even as we enjoy the
Lord, we do live on earth for the time being, and we are to be the light of the
world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. Its amazing how God has His
people in different places. One of the things we can do for the various places
we find ourselves, is to pray.
Primary Text
“And seek (inquire
for, require, and request) the peace and welfare of the city to which I have caused
you to be carried away captive; and pray to the Lord for it, for in the welfare
of [the city in which you live] you will have welfare.” Jeremiah 29v7 (AMP)
The Israelites were here being
told that wherever you are taken exile, [perhaps regardless of how they feel
about it], they should seek its peace and its welfare. And they should pray for
it. One can see in a way Daniel seeking good even where he was sent. For
instance, in the situation where the king had asked that all the wise men be
killed because they couldn’t interpret his dream, Daniel and his friends,
sought the face of God, and God revealed the answer to Daniel. Through them,
the people of this nation, became aware of the Lord God Almighty, whether or
not they knew of Him before (Daniel 2). Joseph could also be said to have
helped the Egyptians to plan ahead for the years of famine (Genesis 41). The
maidservant of Naaman’s wife, was able to let Naaman know that there was a
prophet in Israel, who could heal him of his leprosy (2 Kings 5). Let us seek
the good and welfare of where we are, and even for the world at large. Things
may seem daunting as we watch the news, or even consider those around us. But
let us keep praying. God is faithful, and He hears.
Supplementary Text:
“I urge you, first of
all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf,
and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority
so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to
understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can
reconcile God and humanity – the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2v1-5 (NLT)
Prayer
Remember to pray
continually for all people and those in authority.
