Wisdom (3)
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His great
grace on us, and how we can go to Him for wisdom when we are in want of it. One
person who the Bible records behaved himself wisely, was David.
Primary Text
“And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came
upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with
his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul
cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And
David avoided out of his presence twice. And Saul was afraid of David, because the
LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from
him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in
before the people. And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the
LORD was with him. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely,
he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out
and came in before them.” 1 Samuel 18v10-16 (KJV)
“The very next day a tormenting spirit from God overwhelmed Saul, and he
began to rave in his house like a madman. David was playing the harp, as he did
each day. But Saul had a spear in his hand, and he suddenly hurled it at David,
intending to pin him to the wall. But David escaped him twice. Saul was then
afraid of David, for the LORD was with David and had turned away from Saul.
Finally, Saul sent him away and appointed him commander over 1,000 men, and
David faithfully led his troops into battle. David continued to succeed in
everything he did, for the LORD was with him. When Saul recognized this, he
became even more afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David because he
was so successful at leading his troops into battle.” 1 Samuel 18v10-16 (NLT)
David behaved himself wisely in all his ways, and the LORD was with him.
Hallelujah. The Lord giveth wisdom. Is the Lord with you? Do you seek His face,
His ways, in all that you do. The LORD was with David. The Bible says “The
reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and skill [the
preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good
understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the
Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever. [Job. 28:28; Prov. 1:7; Matt.
22:37, 38; Rev. 14:7.]” Psalm 111v10 (AMP). The very beginning of wisdom, is
the fear of the Lord. At a point, Saul began to care more about what the people
thought (1 Samuel 15). And we know from Scripture that the fear of man brings a
snare (Proverbs 29v25). In the midst of adversity, among your peers, how do you
comport yourself. David behaved himself wisely in all his ways, and the LORD
was with him. Let us fear God, and behave ourselves wisely in all our ways, and
may the Lord grant us wisdom to do so in Jesus name, amen.
Supplementary Text:
“And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with
him.” 1 Samuel 18v14
“And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal
Saul’s daughter loved him. And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul
became David’s enemy continually. Then the princes of the Philistines went
forth: and it came to pass, after they went forth, that David behaved himself
more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was much set by.” 1
Samuel 18v28-30 (KJV)
“Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know
wisdom in my inmost heart.” Psalm 51v6 (AMP)
“So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90v12 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word and Your wisdom. Father, please help us to know
wisdom in our inmost heart. We pray for Your Spirit to be upon us. We pray for
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the
Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. We pray that You will make us
of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD, that we shall not judge after
the sight of our eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of our ears, in Jesus
name, amen.
