A life pleasing to Him
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day?
I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Colossians 1v9-10 (KJV) says ““For this
cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to
desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and
spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of
God;” Other translations of verse 10 say:
“and asking that the way you
live will always please the Lord and honor Him, …” (The Living Bible).
“We pray that you’ll live well
for the Master, making Him proud of you as you work hard in His orchard…” (The
Message)
“That you may walk (live and
conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to
Him and desiring to please Him in all things, …” (Classic Amplified
Bible)
“Then the way you live will always
honor and please the Lord, ...” (New Living Translation).
How I long to live a life that honors
the Lord and pleases Him in every way. That is what Paul was praying for the
Colossians here, and I pray for us. That we will walk in a manner that is
worthy of the Lord, that is fully pleasing to Him and desires to please Him in
all things. We thank God as well that He helps us to do this. We know for
example that in the flesh, there is no good thing; and that those that are in
the flesh cannot please God. But we are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit if
we have the Spirit of Christ in us (Romans 8v7-9). Philippians 2v12-13 (New
Living Translation) says “Dear friends, you always followed my instructions
when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work
hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and
fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do
what pleases Him.”
Prayer
Father, we thank You for this
day. We thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness and love. Father, we want
to live a life that is worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him and desiring to please
Him. We thank You because You are doing a work in us, giving us both the
willingness and the ability to please You. We yield to Your work in our lives O
God, and yield our members as instruments of righteousness. Blessed be Your
name o God, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
