Words of Life
Hello everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. John 1v1 (KJV)
says “In the beginning was the Word …” Even as we know that God’s Word is powerful,
we need to put His Word in our mouth. Our Lord Jesus said “It is the Spirit
that gives life. The body is of no value for that. But the things I have told
you are from the Spirit, so they give life” (John 6v63, ESV). We know as well
that Jesus is “upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the
universe by His mighty word of power” (Hebrews 1v3, AMP).
The NIV says “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the
exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word…”
As human beings, our words are powerful as well. Proverbs 18v21 (AMP) says “Death
and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat
the fruit of it [for death or life].” Basically, there are consequences to the
words that we speak, and these words can either bring to us life or death.
As children of God, why don’t we put His Word, Spirit inspired,
life giving words in our mouth and speak what He declares about us? For example
2 Timothy 1v7 (KJV) says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of
power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Therefore we say – I do not have the
spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Meditating on the
scripture and looking up different translations would also help to give a
deeper meaning. Let us search what the Word of God says about us, life, and
situations and declare them continually.
Prayer
Father
we honour You. We thank You for Your Spirit-inspired, life giving, all powerful
words. We pray for the grace to put Your Word continually in our hearts and in
our mouths, and may this bring forth life to us and others, in Jesus name,
amen.
