Knowing Him
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day?
I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Knowing God is one of the most important
things in life. In Colossians 1v10, Paul prayed for that “and asking that the
way you live will always please the Lord and honor Him, so that you will always
be doing good, kind things for others, while all the time you are learning to
know God better and better” (The Living Bible).
Jesus mentions in John 17v3
that knowing God is eternal life: “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know
(to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only
true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ
(the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent” (Classic Amplified
Edition). It is no wonder then that Paul said he counts everything but loss
compared to this knowing Christ (Philippians 3v8). If we think about it, our
seeking for God, His ways, fellowshipping with the brethren, reading the
scripture, prayer … point to us getting to know more about God. And the wonderful
thing is that God is willing to reveal Himself to us. In Jeremiah 33v3 (The
Message), God says “‘Call to Me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous
and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’”
More importantly, God has given
us His very own Spirit to be on the inside of us. 1 Corinthians 3v11-13
(Classic Amplified Edition) says “For what person perceives (knows and
understands) what passes through a man’s thoughts except the man’s own spirit
within him? Just so no one discerns (comes to know and comprehend) the thoughts
of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit [that
belongs to] the world, but the [Holy] Spirit Who is from God, [given to us]
that we might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts [of
divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly] bestowed on us by God. And we
are setting these truths forth in words not taught by human wisdom but taught
by the [Holy] Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual truths with
spiritual language [to those who possess the Holy Spirit].”
Prayer
Father, we thank You so much
for Your Word. Thank You because when we draw near to You, You draw near to us.
Father, we draw near to You this day, wanting to know You more, wanting to know
what You like and what You will have us do. Thank You for Your Spirit in us and
with us who will guide us into all the truth. Thank You Holy Spirit of God. We
ask for deeper intimacy with Your Spirit in Jesus name, amen.
