God hasn’t forgotten you

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. I was reading about Abraham and was struck with how God really doesn’t forget us. It may seem that things aren’t happening when and how we want them to, but it doesn’t mean God has forgotten us. On the contrary, as we see in the life of Abraham, He keeps coming to us, and reaffirming His promises and plans to us.

When Abram was 75, God appeared to him, instructing him to leave his country, kindred, and go to a land that He would show him; and that He would make him a great nation (Genesis 12v1-3). He appeared to him again after he separated from his nephew Lot, telling him that He will give the land that he could see to him and his seed (Genesis 12v14-18). Now God had blessed Abram with riches, and protected him along the way, but then, he didn’t have any children. How then was he to become this great nation? In Genesis 15v1 (King James Version), the LORD appears to Abram in a vision again saying “Fear not, Abram, I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” At this point, Abram is just like Lord, these promises sound great but I don’t have a child. Everything I have will go to my servant. God reassures him again that out of your bowels will come his own heir. After these things, Abram does have a child with Sarai’s maid Hagar, when he was 86. But God appeared to him again in Genesis 17 and reassured him yet again at the age of 99 that Sarah his wife will bear him a son. God also changes his name from Abram (exalted father) to Abraham (father of many nations), and Sarai’s (princely) to Sarah (queen or mother of princes).

In Genesis 18, God visits Abraham and tells him again that he will have a son. Finally in Genesis 21v1, the Bible records that “And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as He had spoken.” Praise the Lord. “And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me” (Genesis 21v6). Praise the Lord. Beloved, God hasn’t forgotten you. He is all the while reassuring you of His love, His promise, and His goodness. Can you take some time to look over your life and how God has been sending His reassurances to you, to let you know that everything will be just fine? Indeed in His time, He makes all things beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3v11).

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your love for us. Thank You for thinking about us. Thank You for reassuring us and not forgetting us. We love You and we trust in You in Jesus name, amen.
