Beginnings and Endings
Hello everyone,
How are you
doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Better is the
end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better
than the proud in spirit.” Ecclesiastes 7v8 (KJV)
The Bible is
here telling us that it is important to pay attention to the end of a matter,
even more than the beginning. Some will say it is not how well you start but
how well you finish. For example, in our Christian walk, it is not only
important that we give our lives to Christ, but it is important that at the end
of the day our Lord is able to call us good and faithful servants. Hebrews 3v14
(TLB) says “For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as we did when
we first became Christians, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.” Again
2 Peter 2v20 (AMP) tells us “For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of
the world through [the full, personal] knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, they again become entangled in them and are overcome, their last
condition is worse [for them] than the first. For never to have obtained a
[full, personal] knowledge of the way of righteousness would have been better
for them than, having obtained [such knowledge], to turn back from the holy
commandment which was [verbally] delivered to them.” Beloved, it is good that
we keep the end in sight. Of
Jerusalem it was said,
Supplementary Text
“Jerusalem has
sinned greatly, so she has been tossed away like a filthy rag. All who once
honored her now despise her, for they have seen her stripped naked and
humiliated. All she can do is groan and hide her face. She defied herself with
immorality and gave no thought to her future. Now she lies in the gutter with
no one to lift her out. “LORD, see my misery,” she cries. “The enemy has
triumphed.”” Lamentations 1v8-9 (NLT)
Prayer
Father, thank
You for Your Word. Teach me to number my days o Lord, that I might apply my
heart unto wisdom in Jesus name, amen.
