My Shield (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The
Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm
Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, …” Psalm 18v2 (AMP)
One
of the parts of the armory of the believer and a means by which God protects
His children is the shield of faith. Ephesians 6v16 (KJV) tells us “Above all,
taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery
darts of the wicked.” The arrows of the enemy might sometimes be invisible, yet
we have a divine shield against it – faith in God and in His Word. Hebrews 11v1
(NLT) says “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen;
it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.“ So, in the face of
adversary, fear, worry, waiting on God, danger e.t.c., we hold up the shield of
faith to say though we cannot see the solution right now, we believe that it
will come to pass. Our faith is based on the truth of God’s Word and it holds
verses that are relevant to each situation that we go through. For example,
when the fiery darts of worry and anxiety are shot at you, you can recall and
put to practice what Philippians 4v6-7 (AMP) says “Do not fret or have any
anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer
and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your
wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a
soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God
and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which
transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts
and minds in Christ Jesus.“
Supplementary Text
“As
for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried. He is a Shield to
all those who trust and take refuge in Him.” 2 Samuel 22v31 (AMP).
Prayer
Father,
thank You for Your Word, thank You for being my Shield!
