Watch that tongue!
Hello everyone,
How are you
doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His
goodness, His faithfulness and His love.
Primary Text
“Death
and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat
the fruit of it [for death or life].” Proverbs 18v21 (AMP)
Beloved,
how are you using your tongue to shape the events of your life? We can use our tongues
to do positive things like pray, prophecy and decree good things and bless, or,
if we are not careful, we can use these same tongues to murmur, complain,
gossip, backbite and curse. But Ephesians 4v29 (AMP) cautions us to “Let no
foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk
[ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial
to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the
occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who
hear it.” In fact, one verse which serves as a good warning for us says “But I
tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle
(inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.” (Matthew 12v26, AMP). We can decide
to speak “right words”, saying out loud, it is well with my soul, my tomorrow
shall be alright, I am an eternal excellency and the joy of many generations,
my times are in Your hands o Lord, I trust in You, I believe in You, I know
that You will fulfill Your plans for my life, blessed be Your holy name.
Supplementary Text
“Men
have trained, or can train, every kind of animal or bird that lives and every
kind of reptile and fish, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is always
ready to pour out its deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our heavenly Father,
and sometimes it breaks out into curses against men who are made like God. And
so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Dear brothers,
surely this is not right!” James 3v7-12 (AMP)
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
we thank You so much for today. Father, please grant the grace to speak words
of grace, that are life-giving in Jesus name, amen.
