The Principal Thing

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for yet another day, and His goodness, and His grace. The Bible tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, and so we should get wisdom. And we can ask God for wisdom if we need it (James 1v5).

Primary Text: Proverbs 4:7
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4v7 (KJV)

“The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and goldly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).” Proverbs 4v7 (AMP)

Get wisdom. And with all you have gotten, get understanding. The profit of wisdom is better than fine gold. More importantly, we need wisdom that is from above, not the wisdom that is of this world, and of the devil :-

“But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3v14-18 (NLT)

Supplementary Texts:
“And God gave Solomon exceptionally much wisdom and understanding, and breadth of mind like the sand of the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the people of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt... And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his mind” 1 Kings 4v29-30; 1 Kings 10:24 (AMP)

“So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90v12 (AMP)

“Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences], For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it is better than fine gold. Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her. Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.” Proverbs 3v13-18 (AMP)

Prayer
Father please give me wisdom in Jesus name, amen.
