A Purifying Hope

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is. And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless). Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God’s law by transgression or neglect—being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will).” 1 John 3v2-4 (AMP)

There is a hope we have and hold onto, that the Lord Jesus will come back for His people. We know that even now He has gone to prepare a place for us, that where He is, we also should be (John 14v3). We thank God for this. But in light of this hope, we are encouraged to make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in His sight. 2 Peter 3v10-14 (NLT) says “But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, He will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth He has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.” Child of God, how are you living your life? Are you being heaven conscious? The day of the Lord seems to tarry but know that His patience gives people time to be saved (2 Peter 3v15).

Prayer
Father we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the salvation of our souls. We ask o Lord that You will help us to live lives that glorify You, that we would be found to be blameless at Your coming. We pray even according to Phillipians 2v12-13 (TLB) that we would do those good things that result from being saved, obeying God with deep reverence, and shrinking back from all that might displease You. We thank You for You are at work within us, helping us want to obey You, and then helping us do what You want. Indeed You are great God. Thank You O God in Jesus name, amen.
