It pays to wait on God
Hello
everyone,
How are
you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of
Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence
shall be your strength: and ye would not. But ye said, No; for we will flee
upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift;
therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. One thousand shall flee at the
rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon
upon the top of a mountain and as an ensign on an hill. And therefore shall the
LORD wait, that He may be gracious unto you, and therefore will He be exalted,
that He may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are
all they that wait for Him.” Isaiah 30v15-18 (KJV)
A lot of times, we want to take matters into our own hands, and find solutions for ourselves. The most rigorous solution seems to be the best option, and we tend to leave God out of the equation. But God is saying: “…Only in returning to Me and resting in Me will ye be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength” (Isaiah 30v15, NLT). If you decide to take matters into your own hands, you will become worn out, the situation would only get worse, as your enemies will seem to be pursuing you faster, the faster you run, and that in your own strength. So what is the solution – God is saying He is waiting so that He will be gracious to you. “… Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless unbroken companionship]!” (Isaiah 30v18, AMP). Look to God, wait for His timing, rely on His omnipotence, trust in His love for you, quit worrying and wringing your hands about what the outcome of the matter would be, like would God really give me the best solution? Would He really be favourable to me? Remember He loves you, He cares for you, and knows what is best. So wait for Him.
Prayer
Father, we
thank You. We ask for Your forgiveness in ways we have been hasty and taken
matters into our own hands. We run to You this day and look to You for Your
guidance. We thank You for Your Word which says in Psalm 84v11 (TLB) – “For
Jehovah God is our Light and our Protector. He gives us grace and glory. No
good thing will He withhold from those who walk along His paths.” We therefore
thank You for all the good things that will come to us as we continue to walk
along Your paths. Glory be to Your holy name forevermore. All this we pray in
Jesus name, amen.
